*How long will I be able to “work from home”?

A recent study by Willis Towers and Watson (WTW) showed that the popular work from home trend is changing. Their study showed that 61% of US companies have implemented policies that require a minimum number of in-office days per week. The drivers behind this shift include the belief that working in office boosts employee engagement, strengthens corporate culture, and improves overall productivity.

Unfortunately the view from the employee side of the equation shows that employees are still highly interested in remote work. WTW found that 53% of employees who believe their work can be done remotely would change jobs within the next 12 months if their employer mandated a full-time return-to-office policy. 48% of the employees surveyed would actually be willing to take a pay cut in order to work flexibly…a pay cut up to 8%, and that’s a big number. We’re still seeing candidates turn down work opportunities that don’t allow work from home privileges…although the number appears to be shrinking as more and more employers are making the shift back to in facility work requirements.
