A study recently released by Stanford University, is being added to the body research being done to identify the impact of AI on the employment landscape. Their report showed that it has become more difficult for entry-level workers to find employment in certain fields known to be impacted by AI technologies. More specifically the Stanford study found that employment actually dropped by 13%  for people looking for beginner roles in fields like accounting, software development, administrative support, etc.  As a comparison, they found that employment opportunities remained the same or were slightly improved for more experienced workers in those same fields. 

We’re not sure how long this trend will hold but at least for now, this report shows that its been mostly the beginner level roles that have been impacted by AI. The Stanford study is one of several studies in the works designed to shed light on AI’s future impact on jobs and employment. Both employees and employers are curious and anxious over the growing number of ways AI has been put to use in work settings and what they believe will happen to “their jobs.” In real terms, we think the debate comes down to whether or not AI will completely automate the work most of us are doing on a daily basis, OR will it just allow us to do more of this work faster and better.
